Title: SIG Workshop: MicroStation – Element Templates and CADD Standards Any reading material would be much appreciated, also with regards the Luxology Preset Materials, which I cannot get my head around. but have not managed to un-pick the problem. I have been reading the forum, help files etc. pal file and when they are assigned they become local materials. Have I understood this correctly? The materials are in the. What is odd is that the folder at the top of the tree is not named according to the local dgn file, which is what I would have expected for local materials. In the materials editor dialog, the palette I require is not automatically loaded but I can load it no problem. The materials are mostly assigned by the dataset, but in some cases I need to assign or attach materials and this is when the problem comes in. If I open the file in out-the-box OBD, there is no error message, so I suspect the error is related to the pathing of the assigned materials. (This occurs when working in the client workspace). I can exchange into the file from another one, but I can't open it directly, and the file crashes frequently. I am finding that an error occurs in files when I assign materials - I get a message "Parameter is not valid" when I open the file. I could use some assistance unpicking the materials in OBD. Why? Is this related to the custom workspace configuration somehow? Will the material palettes work better it they were stored to local c:\ folder? Next time I open the updated material palette I will notice that specular value of the material stays unchanged but some other values have been updated. I save local materials which I have edited to the library and then save the palette to a shared server folder where our MS CE workspace and onrganization libraries are located. If I adjust some material settings and try to update the material palette after that, only some of the changes will be saved and some will not. I have created and stored materials for fur billboards in the same material palette and attached them to my shrub planting materials using fur/ tree billboarding.įurthermore, the logic behind the way the material palettes are managaged makes absolutely no sense to me. My materials will always loose link to the fur material and shrubs will be rendered as blank billboards until I re-link the fur materials in the 'fur'-tab of the material editor. Basically they work ok but I wonder is there something wrong in my workspace configuration or what because I have to re-edit the fur materials every singe time I use my 3D-vegetation material palette. RPC tools in Microstation CE 15 are still loaded with all kind of bugs so I have tried to use materials with fur feature for shrub
